Girls Soccer
Varsity: Central Valley 1, Patterson 1
The Hawks Varsity Girls Soccer team came into Tuesday night's game with their backs against the wall. CV had to come away with either a win or a tie to keep their postseason hopes alive against the 1st place, Patterson Tigers. Both teams scored early, and things were locked up at 1-1 at the half.
In the 2nd half, the Hawks controlled the tempo, but with under 5 minutes remaining, the Tigers appeared to break away for the lead. The Patterson striker drilled one into the back of the net, BUT offsides was the call. CV dodged a bullet and would fight hard down the stretch to hold the 1-1 tie in place.
The tie was good enough to earn the Hawks a playoff berth! CV finished the CCC season at 7-3-2 (3rd place) to narrowly edge out the El Capitan Gauchos (7-4-1, 4th place).
The first round of the playoffs for the girls will be this Saturday at 6pm. The site and opponent will be known when the CIF SJS brackets are released later this afternoon. Congrats to our girls soccer team on their playoff berth!
