Oak Ridge 7, Central Valley 3
The Hawks battled with one of the Section’s strongest programs yesterday and gave them all they could handle. CV put 2 early runs on the board in the top of the 1st, but the Trojans would chip away at the early lead and put single runs up in the 2nd and 3rd innings to tie the game. In the 4th inning, Oak Ridge was able to put a rally together and the big hit was a 2-out grand slam that put the score at 7-2. The Hawks were able to get one back in the top of the 5th to cut the lead to 7-3, but it wouldn’t be enough to pull off the comeback. The Trojans would win this one by the score of 7-3 putting an end to the Hawks season. Congrats to Coach Bussard and our varsity baseball team on a great season. The Hawks took a very young roster to a solid 3rd place league finish and a playoff appearance. The future looks bright for the baseball program as they will enter the WAC with some positive momentum and a strong roster.
